Nous avons rencontr\u00e9 ce premier m\u00e2le Ceriagrion fallax (1) sur une toute petite mare de Pia Oac, une mare enti\u00e8rement recouverte de lentilles d’eau comme on le verra plus bas. Il partageait l’espace avec l’\u00e9tonnant Atratothemis reelsi<\/a> et le splendide Triogomphus carus<\/a>.
Les anglo-saxons le nomment Black-tailed marsh dart, voire Black-tailed coraltail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est facile \u00e0 identifier avec sa face jaune qui contraste avec ses magnifiques yeux verts, son thorax vert, son abdomen jaune dont les quatre derniers segments sont noirs. On ne peut le confondre qu’avec Ceriagrion melanurum, tr\u00e8s proche, mais qu’on ne rencontre que dans le sud et le sud-ouest de la Chine (donc pas tr\u00e8s loin…), au Japon et en Cor\u00e9e, mais qui s’en distingue par la longueur des appendices anaux, plus longs et bien visibles sur les photos pour C. fallax, ce que montre Ris dans le document dans lequel il le d\u00e9crit (1).
L’abdomen des m\u00e2les mesure 30 \u00e0 32 mm, celui des femelles 28 \u00e0 34, peut-on lire dans Dheeredra Sing (o\u00f9 j’ai eu la surprise et le plaisir de retrouver des photos prises en Malaisie, que je lui avais adress\u00e9es) (2). Selon ces mesures, l’insecte au total toise un peu plus de 38 mm pour les m\u00e2les et 40 mm pour les plus grandes femelles. Haomiao Zhang (3) dans Odonata of China lui donne m\u00eame une taille de 37 \u00e0 47 mm.

J’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 fait des photos de m\u00e2les et femelles en ponte en Malaisie<\/a> (2013), apparemment une autre sous-esp\u00e8ce, mais je ne vois rien qui les diff\u00e9rencie…
On trouvera de nombreuses autres photos plus r\u00e9centes de l’esp\u00e8ce en Tha\u00eflande<\/a> (2024), dont un accouplement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les femelles sont proches des m\u00e2les, mais le noir abdominal est plus \u00e9tendu et le jaune qui les habille beaucoup plus terne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ai pass\u00e9 peu de temps \u00e0 les photographier sur cette petite mare, car Atratothemis reelsi retenait nos efforts. Mais les efforts de ponte de ces couples sont \u00e9galement \u00e0 souligner, pour parvenir \u00e0 pondre \u00e0 l’\u00e9cart de ces lentilles d’eau !
On le rencontre sur les mares, les canaux, au long des ruisseaux de basse montagne, les milieux humides pourvus de plantes \u00e9mergentes, en dessous de 2500 m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais le plus \u00e9tonnant parmi ces couples en ponte est cette femelle qui porte deux parasites assez volumineux, pas de ceux que nous sommes habitu\u00e9s \u00e0 voir sur les zygopt\u00e8res en Europe. Il s’agit vraisemblablement d’un acarien terrestre de la famille des Erythraeidae, et du genre Leptus, qui se nourrit de l’h\u00e9molymphe de l’odonate.
Je l’ai rencontr\u00e9 sur Lestes sponsa<\/a> en France et sur Trithemis dejouxi<\/a> en \u00c9thiopie.
La localisation sur la t\u00eate est \u00e9tonnante, car on les voit plut\u00f4t sur ou plut\u00f4t sous le thorax ou l’abdomen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce qui est amusant c’est qu’en r\u00e9visant cet article pour publier les photos de l’esp\u00e8ce que j’ai rencontr\u00e9e en Tha\u00eflande, je me suis aper\u00e7u que la femelle en ponte observ\u00e9e en Malaisie portait \u00e9galement un parasite<\/a> qui semble tout \u00e0 fait identique sur sa patte ant\u00e9rieure gauche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son aire de distribution est tr\u00e8s importante, depuis l’est de l’Inde jusqu’\u00e0 Ta\u00efwan en passant par les provinces du sud de la Chine et au sud jusqu’en Malaisie p\u00e9ninsulaire (mais pas Singapour). IUCN Red List<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong><\/span>
Dans Ceriagrion<\/strong>, on retrouve le classique\u00a0Agrion<\/em>\u00a0cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Fabricius (1775) pour d\u00e9signer tous les Zygopt\u00e8res et qui vient d\u2019un mot grec signifiant\u00a0sauvage<\/em>, sans doute pour indiquer, d\u2019apr\u00e8s Fliedner (2006), qu\u2019on trouve ces insectes dans les champs et non dans un environnement domestique.
La premi\u00e8re partie du nom de genre vient d\u2019un mot latin,\u00a0cerinus<\/em>, signifiant\u00a0couleur cire<\/em>, en rapport, selon (4) avec la coloration jaun\u00e2tre ou verd\u00e2tre. Personnellement, je pense qu\u2019il s\u2019agit, plut\u00f4t que d\u2019une question de couleur, d\u2019une notion de texture ; pour moi, c\u2019est r\u00e9ellement l\u2019aspect cireux du thorax qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 retenu pour d\u00e9signer le genre.
Fallax<\/strong>, du latin fallax<\/em> qui signifie trompeur<\/em>, mensonger<\/em>, fallacieux<\/em>. Dans la pr\u00e9face de sa publication de 1914 (1), Ris \u00e9crit qu’il a, par erreur, l’ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente, d\u00e9crit un sujet de cette esp\u00e8ce comme Ceriagrion melanurum <\/em>(5). On lui pardonne ais\u00e9ment en regardant cette photo de C. melanurum<\/a> sur iNaturalist !<\/p>\n\n\n\n
