Acisoma trifidum (Libellulidae) est une petite surprise car je ne pensais pas qu’il puisse \u00eatre si diff\u00e9rent des autres Acisoma que j’avais rencontr\u00e9s en Afrique, soit A. inflatum <\/a>et A. variegatum<\/a>. Ou m\u00eame de celui que je connais encore mieux pour l’avoir souvent rencontr\u00e9 en Asie, Acisoma panorpoides<\/a>. Sur toutes mes photos, la partie distale de l’abdomen est fortement redress\u00e9e ; aucun des Acisoma que j’avais eu la chance de rencontrer, en Asie ou en Afrique, ne pr\u00e9sentait cette caract\u00e9ristique. J’ai parcouru un certain nombre de documents pour r\u00e9diger cet article et aucun ne mentionne ce d\u00e9tail\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depuis Mens, L.P., Sch\u00fctte, K., Stokvis, F.R. & Dijkstra, K.-D.B. (2016)<\/em>, le genre Acisoma comprend six esp\u00e8ces ; une asiatique, Acisoma panorpoides, et 5 africaines dont deux, A. attenbouroughi<\/em> et A.<\/em> ascalaphoides<\/em> sont srictement limit\u00e9s \u00e0 Madagascar. Jusque-l\u00e0 on ne reconnaissait que 2 esp\u00e8ces ; A. ascalaphoides<\/em> \u00e0 Madagascar et A. panorpoides<\/em>, du reste de l’Afrique \u00e0 l’Asie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais Acisoma trifidum est sans doute le plus facile \u00e0 isoler et \u00e0 identifier en raison du contraste entre son abdomen tr\u00e8s clair et de son thorax sombre parcouru d’une s\u00e9rie de courtes lignes jaunes, sa face sombre, labrum et labium noirs, marqu\u00e9s de taches blanches, le noir se prolongeant pour traverser l’oeil.
Kirby, en 1889, avait remarqu\u00e9 des anomalies de nervation entre les sujets asiatiques et africains, en particulier le fait que les sujets africains pr\u00e9sentaient une derni\u00e8re nervure ant\u00e9nodale incompl\u00e8te : \u00ab\u00a0There are several doubtful forms from Africa and Madagascar, in all of which (with the exception of a specimen which I regard as the true A. ascalaphoides of Rambur) the last antenodal is not continuous<\/em>.\u00a0\u00bb. Et effectivement tous les Acisoma africains pr\u00e9sentent cette caract\u00e9ristique, qui est moins absolue pour A. ascalaphoides (avec seulement 89% des sujets). Et, dans le m\u00eame document, plus loin, il d\u00e9crit Acisoma trifida<\/em>, que la nomenclature internationale a transform\u00e9 en trifidum<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selon Kirby, la longueur totale du corps est de 26 mm.

On le trouve dans toute l’Afrique occidentale et centrale, du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal jusqu’\u00e0 l’Ouganda, au Rwanda et au nord de la Zambie.

Il affectionne les mares plus foresti\u00e8res que celles d\u2019A. inflatum<\/em>, avec laquelle il coexiste fr\u00e9quemment. Nous l’avons trouv\u00e9 en limite de for\u00eat, puis sur une tr\u00e8s petite mare en milieu ouvert<\/a> (Ankasa forest Reserve Lodge), et une plus grande mare mar\u00e9cageuse, ces deux derni\u00e8res pi\u00e8ces d’eau en milieu ouvert !
Il est certainement moins commun que ce dernier sur les terrains que nous avons explor\u00e9s, nous n’avons pas observ\u00e9 de femelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong><\/span>
Acisoma<\/strong>, du grec akis<\/em> pour aiguille, fl\u00e8che<\/em> et du grec s\u00f4ma<\/em> pour corps<\/em>, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la forme dilat\u00e9e des premiers segments abdominaux et effil\u00e9e des derniers.
Trifidum<\/strong>, de l’adjectif latin trifid<\/em>us, qui signifie divis\u00e9 en trois<\/em>. Kirby a en effet remarqu\u00e9 que cet Acisoma trifidum pr\u00e9sentait trois cellules dans le subtriangle de l’aile ant\u00e9rieure alors que l’esp\u00e8ce asiatique et celles d’Afrique continentale n’en montraient qu’une seule. Il ignorait que dans 40 % des cas il n’en comporte que 2 (ce nombre peut \u00eatre variable d’une aile \u00e0 l’autre, comme le montre le sujet ci-dessous).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En anglais, il prend le nom de Pied Pintail<\/em>, soit [libellule] pie [la couleur] \u00e0 queue en pointe<\/em>\u2026 ce qui est assez \u00e9vocateur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
