Bien s\u00fbr, en 2018 aussi, j’ai aussi rencontr\u00e9 Crocothemis servilia, il est difficile de le manquer en Asie ; son aire de distribution s’\u00e9tend de la Turquie au Japon et \u00e0 la Cor\u00e9e ! Je l’ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 rencontr\u00e9 au Laos <\/a>(o\u00f9 l’on trouvera des renseignements classiques sur l’esp\u00e8ce), au Cambodge<\/a>, au Sri Lanka<\/a>, en Malaisie<\/a> et au Rajasthan<\/a> (avec une femelle androchrome).

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la magie<\/em> de la mondialisation, le Scarlet skimmer est aussi pr\u00e9sent dans les \u00eeles Cara\u00efbes (Cuba, Jama\u00efque, Porto Rico), \u00e0 Hawa\u00ef et en Floride o\u00f9 il est sans doute arriv\u00e9 sous forme de larve ou d\u2019\u0153uf avec des plantes aquatiques ou des poissons d’aquarium et a trouv\u00e9 dans ces milieux des conditions tout \u00e0 fait favorables \u00e0 son maintien et \u00e0 sa reproduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il mesure 40 \u00e0 43 mm et se rencontre sur les mares, \u00e9tangs, lacs et foss\u00e9s, parfois dans des endroits inattendus et fortement anthropis\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong><\/span>
Crocothemis<\/strong>, du grec\u00a0crokos<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 qui a donn\u00e9\u00a0crocus<\/em>\u00a0en latin \u2013\u00a0safran\u00e9<\/em>\u00a0en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la couleur de la base de l\u2019aile et de Themis \u2013 d\u00e9esse grecque de l\u2019ordre, de la justice. Hagen en 1861 a cr\u00e9\u00e9 plusieurs noms de genres termin\u00e9s par le suffixe Themis, sans doute parce que d\u2019autres noms de libellules comportaient des noms de dieux comme Echo ou Nehalennia. Le nom de la d\u00e9esse de l\u2019ordre est particuli\u00e8rement bien adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 la taxonomie, science qui vise \u00e0 d\u00e9crire et ordonner les familles, genres et esp\u00e8ces.
Servilia<\/strong>, Servilia<\/em> (Caepionis) est une des ma\u00eetresses de C\u00e9sar et la m\u00e8re de Brutus. Il n’y a pas lieu de chercher une signification \u00e0 ce choix, sinon l’habitude, aux d\u00e9buts de l’entomologie moderne, d’utiliser des noms ou pr\u00e9noms historiques ou mythologiques pour baptiser les nouvelles esp\u00e8ces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019esp\u00e8ce a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crite sous le nom de Libellula servilia<\/em>, par Dru Drury, orf\u00e8vre et entomologiste anglais (1725-1804) dans une \u00e9tonnante s\u00e9rie d\u2019ouvrages dans laquelle les insectes sont illustr\u00e9s en couleur, accompagn\u00e9s d\u2019un texte en anglais et en fran\u00e7ais.
