Agriocnemis victoria m\u00e2le (Coenagrionidae) n’est pas dans les listes de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence pour le Ghana, que ce soit la liste Neill et Paulson (2001) ou la liste Dijkstra (2013). Sa pr\u00e9sence \u00e9tait pourtant \u00e9voqu\u00e9e dans Pinhey (1974), non pas dans le texte o\u00f9 il rapporte la distribution de l’esp\u00e8ce, mais dans un tableau sous la mention : \u00ab\u00a0Ghana to S. Leone\u00a0\u00bb. Mais comme elle est sans doute simplement suppos\u00e9e, elle n’a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 reprise plus tard, faute de preuve. Il s’agit donc d’une nouvelle esp\u00e8ce pour le Ghana !
Toutes les photos sont faites sur la m\u00eame mare, \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s sur 4 m\u00b2, o\u00f9 m\u00e2les jeunes et adultes, et femelles tentaient de nous \u00e9chapper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ai donc voulu v\u00e9rifier cette identification gr\u00e2ce aux appendices anaux, qui figurent dans diff\u00e9rents documents. Et le moins qu’on puisse dire est qu’ils sont variables selon les auteurs et la g\u00e9ographie).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ci-dessous, je montre les appendices anaux de deux sujets, l’un, jeune, que je trouve conforme, l’autre mature, nettement moins.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ind\u00e9pendamment de la forme des appendices, qui sont donc variables, ce qui m’a aussi surpris est ce coin<\/em> rouge \u00e0 pointe ant\u00e9rieure sur le S8. Sur les sujets que j’avais rencontr\u00e9s en Namibie <\/a>et ceux que je trouve sur le Web, sur iNaturalist ou observation.org, c’est un coin noir \u00e0 pointe distale qui d\u00e9core le S8.
Le reste de l’individu, les motifs noirs et verts sur l’abdomen et le thorax, le pronotum \u00e9tant en accord, je pense tout de m\u00eame qu’il s’agit d’Agriocnemis victoria. D’ailleurs, la forme des appendices sup\u00e9rieurs est vraiment particuli\u00e8re et seuls ceux de A. forcipata<\/a> (non connu au Ghana, et pr\u00e9sent au plus proche au Gabon ou au Cameroun) sont ressemblants : mais ceux de cette esp\u00e8ce sont tr\u00e8s fortement courb\u00e9s vers le bas.

Actuellement l’esp\u00e8ce est connue \u00e0 l’ouest du Ghana : au Liberia et suppos\u00e9e en C\u00f4te d’Ivoire. Et \u00e0 l’est du Ghana, au Nigeria. Sa pr\u00e9sence n’\u00e9tait pas prouv\u00e9e au Ghana, au Togo et au B\u00e9nin. Le fait de la d\u00e9couvrir au Ghana n’est donc pas incongru.
Depuis la Zambie et le S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, sa distribution s’\u00e9tend au Cameroun, en sautant les 3 pays cit\u00e9s, puis jusqu’en Angola au sud, atteint l’Ouganda et la Tanzanie \u00e0 l’est.

Heureusement les appendices de ce jeune Agriocnemis victoria m\u00e2le sont bien conformes et sa coloration rappelle celle des femelles de l’esp\u00e8ce.
Ces appendices en forceps et sa petite taille lui ont donn\u00e9 le nom commun anglais de Lesser Pincer-Tail Wisp<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je l’avais donc d\u00e9j\u00e0 rencontr\u00e9 en Namibie, et dans la page consacr\u00e9e \u00e0 cette esp\u00e8ce, je pr\u00e9cisais que Fraser, dans sa description originale (1) de l\u2019esp\u00e8ce, donne un abdomen de 16 mm ; il mesurerait \u00e0 peine plus de 20 mm au total ! Agriocemis forcipata est un peu plus grand.

C’est une esp\u00e8ce d’aire ouverte, parfois en for\u00eat, parfois sur des mares temporaires. Nous l’avons observ\u00e9 sur une grande mare, en bordure de for\u00eat, mais comme pour tous les Agriocnemis que je connais, il se tient au bord, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 l’eau est peu profonde (si on ne le chasse pas !), parmi les herbes \u00e9mergentes.
Je n’ai malheureusement pas fait de photos de cette mare, j’ai oubli\u00e9, perturb\u00e9 par son extr\u00eame richesse en odonates : nous enregistrerons 3 nouvelles esp\u00e8ces pour le Ghana sur cette seule pi\u00e8ce d’eau.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ci-dessous les deux types de femelles d\u00e9crites par Fraser ; andromorphe \u00e0 gauche, tr\u00e8s proche des m\u00e2les immatures, et h\u00e9t\u00e9romorphe \u00e0 droite, rouge-sang, comme il la d\u00e9crit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Agriocnemis<\/strong>, du grec Agrios- sauvage, pour vivant dans les champs<\/em> et knemis<\/em>, qui signifie jambi\u00e8re<\/em> ou legging<\/em>, comme pour nos Platycnemis europ\u00e9ens. Selys croyait les genres \u00e9troitement proches au regard des tibias, ce que je ne constate absolument pas. Ceux des Agriocnemis ne me semblent pas plus larges que ceux des autres Coenagrion. Mais \u00ab cnemis \u00bb dans beaucoup de noms compos\u00e9s de genre doit plut\u00f4t \u00eatre compris comme \u00ab faisant partie des Coenagrionidae \u00bb (voir Endersby & fliedner 2015)).
