J’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 rencontr\u00e9 Neurothemis fulvia au Laos<\/a>, au Cambodge<\/a> et au Vietnam, mais je le trouve toujours aussi spectaculaire surtout quand il se pose ainsi, les ailes plus basses que l’abdomen et le thorax, et les ailes ant\u00e9rieures encore plus basses que les post\u00e9rieures\u202f; de ce fait les ailes ant\u00e9rieures paraissent tr\u00e8s courtes\u202f!
Noter l’espace sous-costal noirci jusqu’au nodus, ce qui est beaucoup plus visible pour les femelles.
Je n’ai donc pas pass\u00e9 beaucoup de temps avec lui. On trouvera les renseignements habituels sur l’esp\u00e8ce et bien d’autres photos dans les pages que je lui ai consacr\u00e9es au Cambodge<\/a> et au Laos<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La distribution du Fulvous Forest Skimmer, son nom vernaculaire anglais, s’\u00e9tend du sud de l’Inde au sud de la Chine jusqu’\u00e0 Ta\u00efwan, et au sud \u00e0 travers la Malaisie jusqu’\u00e0 Sumatra.

Et les femelles sont tout aussi spectaculaires et la coloration de l’aile ant\u00e9rieure peut-\u00eatre compl\u00e8te\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Neurothemis<\/strong>\u00a0(1), du grec\u00a0neuro<\/em>\u00a0pour \u2013nerf\u00a0<\/em>ou plut\u00f4t \u2013nervure des ailes<\/em>\u00a0en entomologie, et de Themis \u2013 d\u00e9esse grecque de l\u2019ordre et de la justice, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 de nombreuses fois depuis Hagen (1861). Le nom de la d\u00e9esse de l\u2019ordre est particuli\u00e8rement bien adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 la taxonomie, science qui vise \u00e0 d\u00e9crire et ordonner les familles, genres et esp\u00e8ces. Brauer a cr\u00e9\u00e9 ce nom de genre en 1867 pour remplacer le genre Polyneura, cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Rambur en 1842, car ce dernier \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 utilis\u00e9 chez les H\u00e9mipt\u00e8res. Ce nom de genre, comme le nom actuel, \u00e9tait destin\u00e9 \u00e0 insister sur le grand nombre de cellules de leurs ailes.
Fulvia<\/strong> en latin se rapporte \u00e0 une femme du clan des Fulvii, une des plus illustres famille pl\u00e9b\u00e9ienne de Rome. Drury suit simplement la tendance de l’\u00e9poque en piochant dans l’histoire et la mythologie de la Rome Antique, une des Fulvia c\u00e9l\u00e8bre fut l’\u00e9pouse de Marc Antoine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
