Une seule rencontre, bien chanceuse, avec Aciagrion africanum, Coenagrionidae, sur une toute petite mare du lodge o\u00f9 nous venions de passer trois nuits ; nous ignorions sa pr\u00e9sence, qui nous a \u00e9t\u00e9 signal\u00e9e au moment de notre d\u00e9part. Tr\u00e8s \u00e9tonnamment, on acc\u00e8de \u00e0 cette mare insignifiante par une tr\u00e8s longue descente par un escalier.
Il semble d’ailleurs appr\u00e9cier les mares pluviales et il n’est pas impossible que celle-ci se soit constitu\u00e9e ainsi, avec les pluies des jours pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents. Cependant Pinhey (1972) \u00e9crit \u00ab\u00a0Pr\u00e9f\u00e8re les marais ou les bordures mar\u00e9cageuses des cours d’eau<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0.

C’est une premi\u00e8re mention pour le Ghana.

Le genre Aciagrion contient 28 esp\u00e8ces pr\u00e9sentes en Oc\u00e9anie, en Asie et 12 en Afrique. Je suppose qu’ils sont rares<\/em>, car en une vingtaine d’ann\u00e9es de prospections je n’en avais observ\u00e9 que trois; A. pallidum<\/a> au Laos, A. approximans<\/a> en Tha\u00eflande et A. gracile<\/a> en Australie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malheureusement il \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s loin de moi et je n’ai pu faire que quelques mauvaises photos au 300 mm ; suffisamment correctes tout de m\u00eame pour \u00eatre certain de l’identit\u00e9 de ce tr\u00e8s rare odonate ; avant nos photos, il n’y en avait que quatre sur iNaturalist pour l’Afrique enti\u00e8re, malgr\u00e9 une large distribution.
C’est un genre difficile, dont les membres peuvent \u00eatre confondus avec les Africallagma et ne s’en s\u00e9parent que par la position d’une veine transverse et pour certains pourraient \u00eatre amen\u00e9s \u00e0 changer de genre.)
Seule Aciagrion gracile<\/a> (ici, un sujet vu en Australie, avec une tache noire atypique en triangle pointu sur S7, mais ils seraient tous tr\u00e8s variables sur ces marques noires) \u00e9tait connu au Ghana avant notre s\u00e9jour ; il est visuellement tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rent et ne porte pas ce type de motifs sur l’abdomen, en particulier cette tache noire incompl\u00e8te sur le septi\u00e8me segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin \u00e9crit que son abdomen mesure 28 mm ; c’est un tr\u00e8s petit Coenagrionidae mais je ne peux pas en d\u00e9duire la longueur totale, car je n’ai pas de vue de profil. Sans doute moins de 35 mm.
Sa distribution s’\u00e9tend de l’extr\u00eame sud de la Guin\u00e9e et du Lib\u00e9ria jusqu’\u00e0 l’Angola et la Zambie au sud, \u00e0 l’est et plus au nord, il atteint l’Ouganda.

Sur le m\u00eame site minuscule, nous avons observ\u00e9 cette femelle ; il n’existe pas de photos de femelle Aciagrion africanum sur le Web, et il faut se fier \u00e0 la description de Pinhey (1972), qui correspond tr\u00e8s bien, en particulier pour le motif particulier des trois derniers segments et de leurs marques sombres. La taille du site et la pr\u00e9sence du m\u00e2le \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 imm\u00e9diate renforcent la probabilit\u00e9 que ce soit bien la femelle de cette esp\u00e8ce ; d’ailleurs, il n’y a pas d’alternative !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong> Aciagrion africanum
Le genre Aciagrion<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Selys (1891) ; il a \u00e9t\u00e9 form\u00e9 d’un mot grec signifiant \u2013objet pointu<\/em> (acus<\/em>\u00a0en latin signifie\u00a0aiguille<\/em>), en y ajoutant le d\u00e9j\u00e0 c\u00e9l\u00e8bre\u00a0agrion<\/em>\u00a0(du grec\u00a0agrios<\/em>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0vivant dans les champs, sauvage<\/em>). Selys pr\u00e9cise \u00ab\u00a0abdomen long, excessivement gr\u00eale\u00a0\u00bb, un abdomen donc fin comme une aiguille.
Africanum<\/strong>, du latin africanus<\/em> qui signifie qui appartient \u00e0 l’Afrique<\/em>. L sujet que d\u00e9crit Martin provient de Guin\u00e9e-Bissau.
