Au d\u00e9tour d’une identification sur iNaturalist, j’ai appris par hasard que depuis 2011 nos amis hollandais, tr\u00e8s actifs en odonatologie, utilisaient un \u00ab\u00a0crit\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb de coloration quand le pronotum n’\u00e9tait pas visible correctement pour d\u00e9terminer les femelles Coenagrion puella ou Coenagrion pulchellum.
C’est une vraie surprise que de d\u00e9couvrir que ces astuces de passionn\u00e9s ne franchissent pas les fronti\u00e8res et qu’il nous a fallu quinze ans pour y acc\u00e9der.

es_faz<\/a> sur iNaturalist, ou Faz Enes<\/a> sur Facebook, auteur du site Macromia.nl<\/a>, nous r\u00e9v\u00e8le au hasard d’une identification, ce 16 mai 2026, que Weia Reinboud, coautrice de \u00ab\u00a0Veldgids Libellen<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb (Guide de terrain des libellules<\/em> (Europe du Nord et Centrale)), a post\u00e9 un collage de puella vs pulchellum sur le forum Waarneming.nl<\/a>, qui met en \u00e9vidence un nouveau \u00ab\u00a0crit\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb ; le mot est sans doute un peu fort mais ce d\u00e9tail est bien utile. D’ailleurs, ce \u00ab\u00a0crit\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb fonctionne aussi pour les m\u00e2les, mais on a le plus souvent d’autres solutions pour les s\u00e9parer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Femelle Coenagrion pulchellum vs Coenagrion puella<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Il s’agit donc d’une expansion plut\u00f4t rectangulaire<\/strong> qui s’\u00e9chappe vers le bas de la partie ant\u00e9rieure de la bande sombre couvrant la suture hum\u00e9rale, juste en arri\u00e8re de l’infra\u00e9pisterne m\u00e9sothoracique (voir ce dessin <\/a>de Robert (1958) qui pr\u00e9cise les termes anatomiques). Pour Coenagrion pulchellum, cette expansion est prononc\u00e9e<\/strong>, pas seulement sous forme d’un trait ou deux, ou d’une petite bosse arrondie.
Elle est toujours nettement plus faible ou m\u00eame absente<\/strong> pour Coenagrion puella, comme ici<\/a>, ou l\u00e0<\/a>.

Bien s\u00fbr cette expansion est pr\u00e9sente pour d’autres esp\u00e8ces de Coenagrion comme ornatum, armatum, hylas, johansonni, mais il est rare de devoir les s\u00e9parer de C. puella ou pulchellum.

Il est \u00e0 noter que C. mercuriale ne semble jamais pr\u00e9senter cette expansion et qu’elle s’av\u00e8re (si pr\u00e9sente sur le sujet C. puella examin\u00e9) comme un moyen d\u00e9tourn\u00e9 de s\u00e9parer les deux esp\u00e8ces, quand le pronotum n’est pas visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
