Africallagma subtile m\u00e2le est une surprise car l’esp\u00e8ce n’\u00e9tait pas encore connue du Ghana, o\u00f9 l’on ne connaissait que A. glaucum<\/a> (ici en Afrique du Sud) et A. vaginale, que je n’ai jamais rencontr\u00e9e, qui est encore plus rare, apparemment verte, et dont le S8 est au 2\/3 noir, seulement un tiers distal porte un motif bleu bien particulier (ici S8 est presque enti\u00e8rement clair ou \u00ab\u00a0non noir\u00a0\u00bb).
Il s’agit ici de la forme \u00ab\u00a0p\u00e2le\u00a0\u00bb de Africallagma subtile m\u00e2le, car il existe une forme sombre ; je ne sais pas si ces formes apparaissent en fonction de la saison ou de la g\u00e9ographie.
J’avais rencontr\u00e9 la forme claire de la femelle Africallagma subtile en Namibie<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bien s\u00fbr, il vaut mieux se fier aux appendices anaux qu’\u00e0 des r\u00e9partitions de couleurs susceptibles de conna\u00eetre des variations individuelles. On trouve un dessin de ces appendices dans Ris (1921) ou sur le site aujourd’hui hors ligne de l’ADDO<\/a> (African Dragonflies & Damselflies Online), mais que l’on peut atteindre souvent avec Web.archive.org.
M\u00eame si la photo que j’ai faite de ces appendices anaux n’est pas un vrai profil, on note la similarit\u00e9 de forme des paraproctes (appendices inf\u00e9rieurs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ris nous dit que son abdomen mesure 25 mm, il atteint donc une longueur totale d’un peu plus de 30 mm, pour une aile post\u00e9rieure de 15 mm.

Nous l’avons rencontr\u00e9 vers 8 heures 50, alors que nous parcourions un sentier forestier<\/a>, \u00e0 la recherche de Gynacantha perch\u00e9s pour la journ\u00e9e ; je me suis aventur\u00e9 sur les c\u00f4t\u00e9s du sentier \u00e0 plusieurs reprises, d\u00e8s que la for\u00eat \u00e9tait moins dense, et c’est l\u00e0 que je l’ai surpris.

Dijkstra, sur ADDO pr\u00e9cise qu’il fr\u00e9quente les \u00ab\u00a0eaux stagnantes et souvent temporaires en paysage ouvert, zones ouvertes en for\u00eat ou ombrag\u00e9es par une for\u00eat-galerie. Souvent avec de la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation \u00e9mergente et g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement aquatique.\u00a0\u00bb

On le rencontre du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9thiopie au nord, sa pr\u00e9sence n’est pas prouv\u00e9e au Gabon et aux Congo, il se limite au sud, au nord de la Namibie, au nord du Botswana et au sud du Mozambique, sans atteindre l\u2019Afrique du Sud. Sur la carte de l’IUCN<\/a>, on voit qu’il est \u00ab\u00a0soup\u00e7onn\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb dans un certain nombre de pays, dont le Ghana ; il n’est donc pas si \u00e9tonnant de l’y avoir trouv\u00e9, m\u00eame s’il ne s’agit que d’un seul individu.
Il est rarement vu. Avant notre prospection, il n’y avait que 7 ou 8 observations diff\u00e9rentes de l’esp\u00e8ce sur iNaturalist<\/a> depuis 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong> Africallagma subtile (Fliedner, 2021)
Africallagma<\/strong>\u00a0est compos\u00e9 d\u2019une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au continent africain et de Enallagma, du grec\u00a0enallax<\/em>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0altern\u00e9, se succ\u00e9dant<\/em>\u00a0et\u00a0agma<\/em>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0fragment<\/em>, qui pourrait \u00e9voquer l\u2019alternance de marques bleues et noires du thorax.
Charpentier a imagin\u00e9 le terme Enallagma comme \u00ab\u00a0changeant\u00a0\u00bb ou peut-\u00eatre \u00ab\u00a0variant\u00a0\u00bb, pour regrouper tous les Coenagrionidae europ\u00e9ens pour lesquels la coloration de l\u2019abdomen des m\u00e2les est bleue avec des marques noires, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire l\u2019actuel esp\u00e8ce\u00a0Enallagma<\/em>\u00a0mais aussi les\u00a0Coenagrion<\/em>\u00a0et\u00a0Erythromma lindenii<\/em>. Il voulait que le nom soit compris comme \u00ab\u00a0\u00e0 risque de confusion\u00a0\u00bb en raison de la similarit\u00e9 des esp\u00e8ces.
Subtile<\/strong>, du latin\u00a0subtilis<\/em>, signifiant\u00a0fin<\/em>,\u00a0mince<\/em>,\u00a0d\u00e9licat<\/em>. Ris \u00e9crit :\u00a0\u00bb Abdomen tr\u00e8s mince\u2026\u00a0\u00bb.
