Coenagrion scitulum la prise du m\u00e2le<\/em>.
Mon but quand je fais ce genre de photo est d’essayer de comprendre comment le m\u00e2le se saisit de la femelle, et de m’approcher suffisamment pr\u00e8s pour tenter de voir les appendices anaux du m\u00e2le en action.
Les appendices du m\u00e2le Coenagrion scitulum sont minuscules et je n’en ai pour l’instant qu’une tr\u00e8s ancienne et mauvaise photo ; les sup\u00e9rieurs, les cerques, forment une pince tr\u00e8s fine, les inf\u00e9rieurs, les paraproctes, constituent deux tub\u00e9rosit\u00e9s aplaties qui d\u00e9passent \u00e0 peine du dixi\u00e8me segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ces pi\u00e8ces anatomiques sont sens\u00e9es saisir le pronotum de la femelle ; or le pronotum de la femelle comporte un lobe post\u00e9rieur tr\u00e8s significatif (ci-dessous), certainement destin\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00eatre cravat\u00e9 par la pince du m\u00e2le.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malheureusement, malgr\u00e9 tous mes efforts pour photographier la prise du m\u00e2le sous des angles diff\u00e9rents, je ne suis jamais parvenu \u00e0 apercevoir les cerques au travail. Ce n’est finalement pas surprenant, car ils sont minuscules et sont alors cach\u00e9s par le dixi\u00e8me segment ; je suppose qu’ils viennent encercler<\/em> la dent du pronotum de la femelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sur la derni\u00e8re photo ci-dessous, j’ai fl\u00e9ch\u00e9 en rouge ce qu’on voit des paraproctes du m\u00e2le qui viennent faire un contreappui sur la partie plus ant\u00e9rieure du pronotum de la femelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On note \u00e9galement sur cette derni\u00e8re photo les petites boules marrons qui sont des hydracariens parasites qui se nourrissent de l’h\u00e9molymphe (le sang en quelque sorte) de ce petit odonate. Ils sont plus fr\u00e9quents sur les femelles ; ils s’agrippent \u00e0 l’imago lors de son \u00e9mergence, suivent, en se nourrissant, leur cycle de croissance et retourneront \u00e0 l’eau pour poursuivre leur d\u00e9veloppement lors d’une ponte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
