Avec moins de 30 mm, Palpopleura sexmaculata (Libellulidae) est une petite merveille, que les sujets soient matures o\u00f9 immatures, m\u00e2les ou femelles, et j’ai \u00e9t\u00e9 ravi de le rencontrer \u00e0 nouveau.
Les m\u00e2les immatures portent la m\u00eame livr\u00e9e que les femelles, mais s’en diff\u00e9rencient par leur front noir brillant.
Les 2 premi\u00e8res photos \u00e0 Huu Lien, le 3 juin 2018, la 3\u00b0 pr\u00e8s de Sapa, le 13 juin 2018. La photo en vue dorsale est spectaculaire, car la perspective accentue son abdomen aplati et dilat\u00e9 dans sa partie moyenne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lors de la maturation, l’abdomen des m\u00e2les se recouvre d’une pruinosit\u00e9 bleue qui respecte les 2 premiers segments abdominaux et les faces lat\u00e9rales du 3\u00b0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les femelles immatures ne se diff\u00e9rencient de leurs a\u00een\u00e9s que par la fra\u00eecheur de la coloration et la couleur des yeux qui sont encore ici jaunes dans leurs parties inf\u00e9rieures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 maturit\u00e9, les yeux sont plus fonc\u00e9s dans leurs parties sup\u00e9rieures et plus clairs, gris\u00e9s en dessous. Les pt\u00e9rostigmas qui \u00e9taient bicolores sont devenus beaucoup plus ternes. Les 2 photos ci-dessous \u00e0 Pia Oac, le 5 juin 2018.

C’est une esp\u00e8ce qui se pla\u00eet sur les petites mares ou les espaces mar\u00e9cageux et dont l’aire de distribution, gigantesque, s’\u00e9tend de l\u2019Afghanistan jusqu’\u00e0 Hong Kong, \u00e0 travers l’Inde et la Chine, mais au sud, elle ne d\u00e9passe pas le Laos, la Tha\u00eflande<\/a> et le Vietnam.
