J'ai attendu presque 20 ans avant de trouver cette femelle Erythromma viridulum mature ; j'avais rencontr\u00e9 des femelles jeunes, en accouplement ou en ponte, mais jamais de femelle mature isol\u00e9e. Malheureusement, \u00e0 peine aper\u00e7ue, j'ai d\u00fb la poursuivre dans les ronces qui descendent abruptement la rive d'une ancienne argili\u00e8re, \u00e0 l'ombre des bouleaux et des aulnes qui poussent de fa\u00e7on sauvage. Cette argili\u00e8re abandonn\u00e9e, qui \u00e9tait un de mes hot spots il y a une quinzaine d'ann\u00e9es, est en train de se refermer, compl\u00e8tement envahie de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation sur deux de ses longueurs, celles en pente plus ou moins douces qui \u00e9taient les plus int\u00e9ressantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je n'ai eu le temps que d'une dizaine de photos, ombre et soleil \u00e0 la fois, la poursuivant de support en support, jusqu'\u00e0 ce que je la perde, distrait une seconde par un m\u00e2le aux yeux rouges, peut-\u00eatre, sans doute de la m\u00eame esp\u00e8ce\u2026
Parmi les Coenagrionidae, la femelle la plus proche est sans doute sa cousine E. lindenii<\/a>, pour la couleur des yeux et ce m\u00e9lange peu commun de vert\/jaune et de bleu sur la t\u00eate, le thorax et les premiers segments. Pour cette m\u00eame coloration, je ne vois que C. scitulum<\/a> qui puisse \u00e9galement s'en rapprocher.

L'identification est facilit\u00e9e par l'absence de taches postoculaires, qui limite consid\u00e9rablement les candidats ; on ajoute les yeux verts cap\u00e9s de brun ; la bande ant\u00e9humerale compl\u00e8te, plus large en avant qu'en arri\u00e8re, r\u00e9tr\u00e9cissant de fa\u00e7on sym\u00e9trique (celle de E. najas est raccourcie ou en point d'exclamation<\/a>) ; le fort \"trait-point\" sur la suture interpleurale<\/a>.
Un d\u00e9tail ou crit\u00e8re que j'utilise avec succ\u00e8s depuis des ann\u00e9es, pour s\u00e9parer Erythromma viridulum de E. najas et que j'ai explicit\u00e9 sur le site, est l'absence de marque noire \u00e0 la partie inf\u00e9rieure du second segment, toujours pr\u00e9sente pour E. najas.
La face dorsale du 10\u00b0 segment est claire, elle est sombre (noire) pour E. najas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il n'est pas tr\u00e8s courant de s'aider du pronotum pour s\u00e9parer Erythromma viridulum femelle de E. najas ; seuls, \u00e0 ma connaissance, Wendler et N\u00fc\u00df (1997) et Askew (2004) en donnent un dessin. Ils sont parfois difficiles \u00e0 interpr\u00e9ter quand ils ne portent pas de bordure color\u00e9e et d'autres crit\u00e8res sont sans doute plus faciles \u00e0 mettre en \u0153uvre ; mais dans certains cas leur examen est incontournable, en particulier chez des sujets \u00e9mergents. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ainsi, sur cette photo \u00e0 gauche, un peu floue, m\u00eame si le bord post\u00e9rieur appara\u00eet globalement arrondi, il semble s'en d\u00e9tacher un tout petit lobe post\u00e9rieur soulign\u00e9 de coloration claire. Il est en tout cas tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rent de celui de E. najas femelle, ci-dessous :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En Maine-et-Loire, mon d\u00e9partement, Erythromma viridulum me semblait peu commun et j'avais une vision erron\u00e9e de la situation des deux esp\u00e8ces cousines en France. Si on consulte les donn\u00e9es photographiques d'iNaturalist, on s'aper\u00e7oit que E. viridulum<\/a> est presque deux fois plus photographi\u00e9 que E. najas<\/a> en France m\u00e9tropolitaine. Et que les photos de femelles E. viridulum sont assez communes. En Maine-et-Loire, sur Faune Pays de la Loire<\/em>, on note 1666 observations d'E. najas contre 2398 d'Erythromma viridulum...
On lit sous la plume de Boudot et al. (1990) une phrase int\u00e9ressante \u00e0 propos de E. viridulum : \"Cette esp\u00e8ce, r\u00e9put\u00e9e rare il y a quelques ann\u00e9es, para\u00eet donc actuellement \u00eatre bien diss\u00e9min\u00e9e dans l'ensemble du territoire fran\u00e7ais<\/em>.\" Trente-six ans apr\u00e8s cette remarque, elle est actuellement mieux r\u00e9partie en France que E. najas et plus fr\u00e9quemment observ\u00e9e, m\u00e2les comme femelles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
