Thermochoria equivocata<\/em>, Libellulidae, appartient \u00e0 un genre end\u00e9mique d'Afrique tropicale, qui compte seulement deux esp\u00e8ces tr\u00e8s voisines, elles-m\u00eames proches du genre Hemistigma<\/em> (ici Hemistigma albipunctum<\/em><\/a> en Namibie).
Thermochoria equivocata<\/em> diff\u00e8re de T. jeanneli<\/em> par la pr\u00e9sence de bandes sombres subcostales (comme Hemistigma albipunctum<\/em>), la taille plus petite et la distribution g\u00e9ographique \u00e0 l'ouest de l'Afrique. Nous ne pouvions donc pas rencontrer cette seconde esp\u00e8ce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D'apr\u00e8s Legrand (2023), il mesure au total 34 mm alors que Dijkstra (2021) donne son envergure alaire pour 21 \u00e0 27 mm.
On le trouve dans les eaux stagnantes et temporaires, particuli\u00e8rement les mares dans le lit des cours d'eau, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement avec des d\u00e9bris grossiers et souvent un fond meuble. Pour Legrand, \"elle affectionne, sous couvert forestier dense, les diverticules plus ou moins stagnants des cours d\u2019eau petits \u00e0 grands<\/em>\".
Nous n'avons rencontr\u00e9 qu'un seul sujet, dans un mar\u00e9cage forestier, voisinant peut-\u00eatre une rivi\u00e8re (difficile \u00e0 savoir en saison s\u00e8che), accompagn\u00e9 d'un abondant cort\u00e8ge d'odonates parmi lesquels Ceriagrion rubellocerinum<\/em>, Agriocnemis machlachlani<\/em> et Tetrathemis camerunensis<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le nom vernaculaire anglais, Dash-winged Piedface,<\/em> souligne \u00e0 la fois la coloration de la nervation souscostale et sa face qui est noire et blanche. Par opposition, T. Jeanneli<\/em> est nomm\u00e9 Clear-winged Piedface<\/em>.

On le rencontre depuis la Guin\u00e9e et la Sierra Leone \u00e0 l'ouest jusqu'en Ouganda \u00e0 l'est. Il atteint la Guin\u00e9e \u00e9quatoriale et les deux Congo au sud, la R\u00e9publique centrafricaine au nord.

\u00c9tymologie Thermochoria equivocata<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thermochoria<\/strong>, du grec thermos<\/em> pour chaud<\/em>, et de chora<\/em> (et de son diminutif chorion) qui signifie le pays, la contr\u00e9e<\/em>, pour souligner que ce genre habite les pays chauds, tropicaux.
Equivocata<\/strong>, du latin aequivocatus<\/em>, participe pass\u00e9 du verbe aequivocare<\/em> qui signifie parler de mani\u00e8re ambigu\u00eb<\/em>. Dans le m\u00eame ouvrage, Kirby cr\u00e9e successivement les genres Hemistigma<\/em> et Thermochoria<\/em> et pour ce dernier il commence en \u00e9crivant \"Caract\u00e8res d'Hemistigma.\" Aussi, par le terme equivocata<\/em>, il a choisi de souligner la proximit\u00e9 et l'incertitude de la position syst\u00e9matique de cet odonate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
