Il est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme peu commun, local (Lieftinck, 1969), et avant notre prospection il n'y avait que tr\u00e8s peu de photos pour le Ghana sur Observation.org ou iNaturalist.<br>Il est souvent reconnu que les <em>Orthetrum<\/em> ne peuvent valablement \u00eatre identifi\u00e9s que gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leurs organes g\u00e9nitaux externes sous le second segment abdominal, aussi j'ai \u00e9t\u00e9 bien heureux de trouver une cl\u00e9 d'identification bas\u00e9e sur d'autres crit\u00e8res dans Longfield (1955). Ceci gr\u00e2ce au site ADDO, \u00e9dit\u00e9 par K.-D. En arri\u00e8re de cette bande, on note la suture hum\u00e9rale partiellement soulign\u00e9e de noir et une curieuse forme noire sinueuse qui s'en d\u00e9tache (elle n'est malheureusement pas unique parmi les <em>Orthetrum<\/em>).<br>Seul l'abdomen se couvre de pruinosit\u00e9.<br>Il ne pr\u00e9sente qu'une seule rang\u00e9e de cellules dans le champ radial suppl\u00e9mentaire (radial loop ou encore radial planate selon les auteurs), les veines transverses sous-costales sont jaunes et les pt\u00e9rostigmas sont petits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Orthetrum-monardi-male-3.webp\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1172\" height=\"686\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Orthetrum-monardi-male-3.webp\" alt=\"Orthetrum monardi m\u00e2le, Ghana, Kakum N.P., 14\/01\/2026\" class=\"wp-image-30359 lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1172px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1172\/686;aspect-ratio:1.7085191269655011;width:656px;height:auto\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Orthetrum-monardi-male-3.webp 1172w, https:\/\/www.meslibellules.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Orthetrum-monardi-male-3-768x450.webp 768w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1172px) 100vw, 1172px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Orthetrum monardi<\/em> m\u00e2le, Ghana, Kakum N.P., 14\/01\/2026<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Orthetrum monardi<\/em> mesure 37 \u00e0 45 mm (Tarboton, 2015).<br>Il se pla\u00eet sur les eaux stagnantes, parfois temporaires, les sources, les suintements, dans des environnements ouverts. Mais certainement en for\u00eat ou tout proche, comme le rappelle son nom vernaculaire <em>Woodland Skimmer<\/em>. Puis vers le sud \u00e0 travers la Tanzanie et la Zambie, elle atteint l'Angola. <br>Une population isol\u00e9e, d\u00e9couverte en 2014 au KwaZulu-Natal, est pr\u00e9sente tout \u00e0 fait \u00e0 l'est de l'Afrique du Sud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:34px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>C<span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">arte de distribution d'Orthetrum monardi, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iucnredlist.org\/species\/59962\/85930695\">IUCN Red List<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:31px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00c9tymologie : <em>Orthetrum monardi<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Orthetrum&nbsp;<\/strong>(voir Endersby &amp; Fliedner, 2015) vient de deux mots grecs,&nbsp;<em>orthos<\/em>&nbsp;signifiant&nbsp;<em>droit<\/em>&nbsp;et&nbsp;<em>etron<\/em>&nbsp;pour&nbsp;<em>abdomen<\/em>, ceci pour signifier que les c\u00f4t\u00e9s de l\u2019abdomen sont parall\u00e8les. Ce nom de genre (neutre) cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Newman en 1833 a perdu sa pertinence avec la d\u00e9couverte de nouvelles esp\u00e8ces (dont les c\u00f4t\u00e9s de l'abdomen ne sont pas parall\u00e8les), mais le nom est rest\u00e9.<br><strong>Monardi<\/strong> est un hommage au Dr Albert Monnard (1886\u20131952), zoologiste, botaniste, explorateur et conservateur de mus\u00e9e suisse, et Schmidt \u00e9crit : \"<em>Art wurde benannt zu Ehren des Sammlers Dr. ALBERT MONARD in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Schweiz<\/em>\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:13px\"><strong>Dijkstra, K.-D.B.
