Nous n'avons eu qu'une seule br\u00e8ve rencontre avec cette femelle Hadrothemis infesta, Libellulidae.
Karsh (1891 a) a d\u00e9crit la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e plusieurs Hadrothemis<\/em> sous le genre Thermothemis,<\/em> mais il cr\u00e9e pour celui-ci un genre nouveau, Archiclops<\/em> (1891 b). Pourtant, dans ce m\u00eame document, et juste avant, il cr\u00e9e le genre Hadrothemis<\/em> pour l'Orthetrum camarense<\/em> de Kirby. Ceci souligne la complexit\u00e9 croissante de la taxinomie, au fur et \u00e0 mesure que de nouvelles esp\u00e8ces sont d\u00e9couvertes et imposent une finesse de crit\u00e8re plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e.
Le genre Hadrothemis compte sept esp\u00e8ces end\u00e9miques des for\u00eats d'Afrique tropicale, Hadrothemis infesta<\/em> est le plus grand.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le m\u00e2le<\/a> ressemble \u00e0 un Orthetrum sombre avec l'apex des ailes ambr\u00e9 au-del\u00e0 du pt\u00e9rostigma, le front est noir m\u00e9tallique, le thorax sombre parcouru de bandes jaunes lat\u00e9ralement, les trois premiers segments sont couverts de pruine, le reste est noir plus ou moins marqu\u00e9 de lignes jaunes paires et lat\u00e9rales, qui disparaissent avec la maturation.
La femelle est jaune, les sutures thoraciques noires, l'abdomen noir largement parcouru de lignes jaunes de part et d'autre, les ailes sont marqu\u00e9es \u00e9galement \u00e0 l'apex. Elles portent une forte expansion ventrale au niveau du huiti\u00e8me segment dont la face lat\u00e9rale est parfois partiellement rouge.

Karsch donne la taille du m\u00e2le, 48 mm, et celle de la femelle, 47,5 mm.
En anglais, il prend le nom de Slender Jungleskimmer<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il se plait sur les eaux stagnantes bien abrit\u00e9es par la for\u00eat. Nous l'avons rencontr\u00e9 le long d'un large chemin forestier, o\u00f9 de profondes orni\u00e8res cr\u00e9aient de larges flaques d'eau.

Sa distribution s'\u00e9tend de la Guin\u00e9e et de la Sierra Leone, atteignant l'Ouganda \u00e0 l'est, \u00e0 travers le Cameroun et les deux Congo.

\u00c9tymologie Hadrothemis infesta<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hadrothemis<\/strong>, du grec\u00a0hadros<\/em>\u00a0qui signifie\u00a0fort, robuste, bien d\u00e9velopp\u00e9,<\/em>\u00a0et de Themis, d\u00e9esse grecque de l\u2019ordre et de la justice, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 de nombreuses fois depuis Hagen (1861). Le nom de la d\u00e9esse de l\u2019ordre est particuli\u00e8rement bien adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 la taxonomie, science qui vise \u00e0 d\u00e9crire et ordonner les familles, genres et esp\u00e8ces. Ce \u2013themis<\/em>\u00a0est en fait devenu un signal d\u2019appartenance aux Libellulidae. Karsch, d\u00e9crivant le genre\u00a0Hadrothemis,<\/em>\u00a0\u00e9crit : \u00ab\u00a0Kurz, plump und dick \u2013 Court, lourd et \u00e9pais\u00a0\u00bb, qui se rapporte \u00e0 son thorax massif.
Infesta<\/strong>, du latin infestus<\/em> qui signifie inqui\u00e9tant<\/em>, redoutable<\/em>. Karsch, dans sa description, insiste sur sa coloration sombre, les nombreuses \u00e9pines de ses pattes, qui le rendraient mena\u00e7ant et redoutable\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
