L’identification des Sympetrum sanguineum repose sur des crit\u00e8res bien connus pour les m\u00e2les : pattes noires, taches noires sous les yeux, petites taches alaires ambr\u00e9es, abdomen dilat\u00e9 pour les derniers segments.
Mais pour les femelles, et les tr\u00e8s jeunes m\u00e2les, il n’y a pas cette notion d’abdomen dilat\u00e9 et sur une vue post\u00e9rieure qui cache les pattes (et forc\u00e9ment les yeux \ud83d\ude42 ) l’identification peut s’av\u00e9rer difficile si… on ignore ce qu’on peut certainement qualifier de crit\u00e8re et qui est illustr\u00e9 sur la photo ci-dessus: il s’agit donc d’un \u00ab\u00a0T\u00a0\u00bb noir form\u00e9 par l’union de la car\u00e8ne thoracique (color\u00e9e en noir) et le bord ant\u00e9rieur du thorax lui aussi bord\u00e9 de noir.
Ce crit\u00e8re est valable pour les m\u00e2les et les femelles mais devient moins \u00e9vident lorsque la coloration des m\u00e2les \u00e9voluent. Il est certainement d’un grand secours pour les immatures des 2 sexes.
