Une larve de Platycnemis pennipes<\/span>
Dans mon jardin, ma petite mare est entour\u00e9e au sud et \u00e0 l’ouest de grands c\u00e8dres qui y abandonnent des \u00e9pines d\u00e8s qu’il y a du vent. Cette acidification relative de l’eau ne semble pas g\u00eaner ni les poissons ni les libellules, enfin certaines.
Les plus communes sont Pyrrhosoma nymphula et Ischnura elegans. Cependant, depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, je rencontre de nombreux Platycnemis pennipes immatures qui se cachent dans la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation du jardin, parfois jusqu’\u00e0 une bonne vingtaine.
Jusqu’\u00e0 ces derniers jours, je n’avais jamais observ\u00e9 de ponte, mais j’avais assist\u00e9 \u00e0 une \u00e9mergence <\/a>d’un m\u00e2le de l’esp\u00e8ce. En nettoyant le fond du bassin, enfouie dans les \u00e9pines en d\u00e9composition se trouvait cette larve, certainement de dernier stade en raison de la date et de la taille des fourreaux alaires, une larve certainement pr\u00eate \u00e0 \u00e9merger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je ne suis pas un sp\u00e9cialiste des exuvies ni des larves, mais coup de chance, celle-ci fait partie de celles qui sont faciles \u00e0 identifier par les filaments qui prolongent leurs branchies caudales ou flagelles, et qui sont ici charg\u00e9es de d\u00e9bris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En cliquant sur l’une des photos de la larve, on remarque les quatre longs fourreaux alaires align\u00e9s et parall\u00e8les desquels s’extrairont bient\u00f4t les ailes toutes compress\u00e9es et … \u00ab\u00a0ratatin\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb.

\u00c0 vrai dire, il est impossible de distinguer les larves de Platycnemis pennipes de celles de son cousin Platycnemis acutipennis; mais depuis 15 ans que j’observe les libellules dans mon jardin, je n’ai certainement pas vu plus de 5% de P. acutipennis parmi les Platycnemis de mon jardin et jamais autour de ma petite mare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aussit\u00f4t apr\u00e8s cette derni\u00e8re photo, elle est retourn\u00e9e dans son \u00e9l\u00e9ment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
