Le\u00a0 3 juin 2018, sur une petite rivi\u00e8re lente de la r\u00e9serve de Huu Lien, province de Lang Son, nous avons rencontr\u00e9 trois esp\u00e8ces de Paracercion sur les quatre actuellement recens\u00e9es dans le nord du\u00a0Vietnam. Paracercion ambiguum se diff\u00e9rencie assez facilement des deux autres (et des Pseudagrion !) par la longueur de ses cerques (un peu plus longs que S10), les larges taches postoculaires, la suture hum\u00e9rale lourdement soulign\u00e9e de noir, la suture m\u00e9sopleurale \u00e9galement bien marqu\u00e9e de noir dans sa partie post\u00e9rieure, la suture m\u00e9tapleurale portant une fine ligne noire \u00e9largie en arri\u00e8re.
La publication de cette nouvelle esp\u00e8ce (d\u00e9couverte en 2013) dans Zootaxa en 2016 (Paracercion ambiguum Kompier & Yu, 2016) mentionne que le nom d’esp\u00e8ce a \u00e9t\u00e9 donn\u00e9 en raison de la difficult\u00e9 (tranch\u00e9e par l’analyse g\u00e9n\u00e9tique) \u00e0 d\u00e9finir si cette nouvelle esp\u00e8ce appartenait aux Pseudagrion ou aux Paracercion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il montre en effet un comportement de Pseudagrion plut\u00f4t pendu au bout des feuilles que reposant sur la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation flottante. L’abdomen, y compris les appendices, mesure 30,5 mm, ce qui doit correspondre \u00e0 une longueur totale de plus de 40 mm. L’aile post\u00e9rieure mesure 19 mm, toujours selon la m\u00eame source. C’est malheureusement la seule photo que j’ai pu faire en raison de la position\u00a0de l’insecte et du nombre de nouvelles esp\u00e8ces que j’ai rencontr\u00e9es sur ce site\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Une demi-heure apr\u00e8s avoir rencontr\u00e9 le m\u00e2le, j’ai fait cette photo sans me douter qu’il s’agissait de la femelle Paracercion ambiguum. Elle n’a \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9e qu’au retour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il n’est actuellement connu que de Huu Lien, au nord du Vietnam, une aire extr\u00eamement r\u00e9duite et menac\u00e9e !

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Le genre Paracercion<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Weekers et Dumont (2004) pour regrouper plusieurs esp\u00e8ces de demoiselles (Zygopt\u00e8res) d’Asie de l’Est qui \u00e9taient auparavant class\u00e9es dans les genres Cercion<\/em>, Coenagrion<\/em> ou Enallagma<\/em>. Cette r\u00e9vision s’est appuy\u00e9e \u00e0 la fois sur des donn\u00e9es mol\u00e9culaires et sur des caract\u00e8res morphologiques sp\u00e9cifiques. Le genre Cercion a disparu \u00e0 cette occasion.
Le genre Cercion, Navas (1907) vient du grec kerkos<\/em> pour queue<\/em> et du suffixe diminutif grec –ion<\/em>, classique en entomologie (Agrion, Coenagrion, Pseudagrion) ; l’esp\u00e8ce type du genre Cercion \u00e9tait notre Erythromma lindenii, qui montre des appendices anaux remarquablement longs (longue queue<\/em>).
Weekers et Dumont ont ajout\u00e9 le pr\u00e9fixe para<\/em>, qui en grec signifie proche de<\/em>, pour signaler la proximit\u00e9 avec le genre Cercion.
Ambiguum<\/strong>, comme je l’ai \u00e9crit plus haut, est une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la difficult\u00e9 de le placer dans le bon genre de Coenagrionidae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
