On ne peut vraiment confondre Palpopleura porta qu’avec Palpoleura lucia<\/a>. D\u2019ailleurs les deux esp\u00e8ces se ressemblent tellement qu’elles sont rest\u00e9es longtemps confondues, on pensait que l’\u00e9tendue de la coloration alaire n’\u00e9tait qu’une variation au sein d’une m\u00eame esp\u00e8ce. L’analyse mol\u00e9culaire a mis fin \u00e0 ce doute.
Il s’agit ici d’une femelle, je n’ai pas vu de m\u00e2le, mais l’identification peut de faire de la m\u00eame fa\u00e7on en \u00e9valuant l’\u00e9tendue de la coloration alaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sur la vue ci-dessus, on remarque la coloration est tr\u00e8s r\u00e9duite, ou que l’encoche hyaline dans la coloration est tr\u00e8s profonde entre la tache basale et la tache pre-nodale. D’autant que sa coloration n’est pas achev\u00e9e, il s’agit dans doute d’une jeune femelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il ou elle mesure dans les 27 mm, fr\u00e9quente les mares saisonni\u00e8res, les plaines inond\u00e9es, les marges des rivi\u00e8res, mais je l’ai trouv\u00e9e au bord du grand lac Abaya.
Son aire de distribution s’\u00e9tend du nord de l’Afrique du Sud, du Botswana et de la Namibie jusqu’\u00e0 une ligne s’\u00e9tendant de la Somalie au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, passant bien s\u00fbr par l’\u00c9thiopie, tout au nord de cette ligne de r\u00e9partition.
