Sympetrum meridionale m\u00e2le immature, Le Verdon sur Mer (France – 33), 25 juillet 2013.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Encore un \u00ab\u00a0nouveau\u00a0\u00bb crit\u00e8re d’identification des Sympetrum meridionale. Apr\u00e8s la \u00ab\u00a0Golden vein\u00a0\u00bb, j’apprends tout r\u00e9cemment par un ami anglais ce d\u00e9tail d’identification qui ne semblait pas connu ou partag\u00e9, en France.\u00a0Il avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9 dans Britain’s Dragonflies (Dave Smalshire and Andy Swash), et dans Dragonflies & Damselflies of Europe by Gallianai, Scherini& Piglia, mais je ne l’ai jamais vu ou lu dans aucun ouvrage fran\u00e7ais.
Il s’agit donc simplement d’un petit point noir situ\u00e9 juste au-dessus du stigmate m\u00e9tathoracique (\u00ab\u00a0prise d’air\u00a0\u00bb pour assurer l’oxyg\u00e9nation d’une partie du thorax). Il est unique \u00e0 cette esp\u00e8ce, bien visible chez les jeunes sujets et les femelles, il dispara\u00eet plus ou moins chez les vieux m\u00e2les et sur de nombreuses photos, il est cach\u00e9 par les ailes.
C’est certainement un \u00e9l\u00e9ment int\u00e9ressant \u00e0 v\u00e9rifier quand on conna\u00eet la difficult\u00e9 \u00e0 identifier certains sp\u00e9cimens sur photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noter sur la femelle ci-dessous le point noir thoracique, bien s\u00fbr, mais aussi les soies au sommet du thorax et en particulier la forte touffe sur le pronotum relev\u00e9. Ces soies interviennent dans le vol et seraient des capteurs sensoriels informant l’odonate des \u00e9coulements d’air le long de son corps, permettant une adaptation permanente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
