Dans la journ\u00e9e, c’est \u00e0 l’ombre, parfois dense, que l’on trouve Parazyxomma flavicans (Libellulidae). Il fait tout de suite penser \u00e0 Brachythemis leucosticta par ses taches alaires, ou m\u00eame \u00e0 Tholymis tillarga dont il partage le comportement, pos\u00e9 \u00e0 l’ombre en journ\u00e9e et ne se \u00ab\u00a0r\u00e9veillant\u00a0\u00bb qu’en soir\u00e9e. Il est tr\u00e8s proche de ces 2 esp\u00e8ces et K-D. Dijkstra a d’ailleurs affirm\u00e9 la synonymie de Brachythemis liberiensis avec Parazyxomma flavicans (1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s l’avoir longuement cherch\u00e9 nous l’avons finalement d\u00e9couvert \u00e0 une vingtaine de m\u00e8tres d’un petit bras de l’Okavango, dans un bouquet de buissons hauts de 3 ou 4 m\u00e8tres. Il \u00e9tait toujours plac\u00e9 en hauteur, le corps horizontal, un peu haut malheureusement pour qu’on puisse facilement admirer ses yeux exceptionnels. Ce motif particulier est sans doute \u00e0 mettre en relation avec son activit\u00e9 tardive et son aptitude \u00e0 ne se d\u00e9placer qu’en faible luminosit\u00e9.
On notera que les Brachythemis dont il est tr\u00e8s proche pr\u00e9sentent eux aussi des dessins tr\u00e8s particuliers sur les yeux, dessins qui suffisent \u00e0 identifier le genre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il mesure en moyenne 38 mm.
Sa distribution le localise depuis le S\u00e9n\u00e9gal jusqu’\u00e0 l’Afrique du Sud (ou il est tr\u00e8s localis\u00e9) en suivant la zone sub tropicale \u00e0 traves l’Afrique centrale (Congo) jusqu’\u00e0 la Zambie et la bande de Caprivi en Namibie, mais sans avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 encore observ\u00e9 en Angola ou au Mozambique.
