Lestinogomphus angustus, Spined fairytail<\/em>, un tout petit Gomphidae de 39 mm (Martin dans sa description originale) ou 41 \u00e0 47 mm (dans A Guide to the Dragonflies and Damselflies of South Africa, Tarbotoon & Tarboton) de longueur totale, avec un abdomen tr\u00e8s mince et un 10\u00b0 segment tr\u00e8s curieux, tr\u00e8s long et formant un angle important vers le bas quand il est pos\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son identification ne pose pas de probl\u00e8me avec la position de son 10\u00b0 segment, d’autant qu’il est actuellement le seul de son genre connu en Namibie; cependant Lestinogomphus silkei a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert dans les chutes Victoria et il ne serait pas surprenant de le d\u00e9couvrir en Namibie dans un environnement \u00e9quivalent, comme Popa Falls. Il est tr\u00e8s ressemblant avec des appendices anaux l\u00e9g\u00e8rement diff\u00e9rents et un S10 un peu plus court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il faut \u00e9galement remarquer ses ailes \u00e9troites et surtout l’\u00e9troitesse de la base de l’aile post\u00e9rieure, ce que l’on observe bien sur la premi\u00e8re photo de la page.
Il se pose le plus souvent \u00e0 l’ombre et pr\u00e9f\u00e8re les for\u00eats au bord des rivi\u00e8res et nous l’avons en effet observ\u00e9 pr\u00e8s du Zamb\u00e8ze, de l’Okavango et de la Kwando river.
Les yeux des adultes sont bleus et le sujet ci-dessous nous a sembl\u00e9 tr\u00e8s bizarre, ar\u00e9actif et mou<\/em>, peut-\u00eatre un jeune individu en train de mourir…

C’est une esp\u00e8ce de l’Afrique de l’Est, depuis l’Ouganda (holotype, 1911) et le Kenya au nord, jusqu’au nord-est de l’Afrique du Sud, incluant la Zambie, le nord du Botswana et n’est pr\u00e9sent en Namibie (et sans doute au sud de l’Angola) que le long de la bande de Caprivi puis presque jusqu’\u00e0 l\u2019Atlantique en suivant la fronti\u00e8re de l’Angola.
