J'ai accord\u00e9 assez peu d'attention \u00e0 ce Pseudagrion kersteni m\u00e2le (Coenagrionidae) \u00e0 la fois parce que je l'avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 rencontr\u00e9 au B\u00e9nin<\/a> et en \u00c9thiopie<\/a>, qu'il se trouvait \u00e0 l'ombre, et que je pensais bien le revoir souvent, tromp\u00e9 par mes deux premi\u00e8res rencontres\u202f; nous ne le reverrons pas du voyage et, en effet, il est absent de la bande de Caprivi...
Il mesure 37 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est facile \u00e0 reconna\u00eetre\u202f; 37 mm en moyenne, la face poudr\u00e9e de blanc (Powder-faced Sprite, en anglais), un aspect pruineux sale<\/em>, comme si la pruine \u00e9tait griff\u00e9e, et les appendices anaux sup\u00e9rieurs assez massifs qui font ba\u00efonnette sur une vue de profil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En Namibie, il appr\u00e9cie les ruisseaux bord\u00e9s de Carex, mais nous l'avons trouv\u00e9 sur une toute petite place o\u00f9 un tr\u00e8s petit ruisseau traversait un sentier pav\u00e9, et se perdait dans les broussailles o\u00f9 il se cachait. Alors qu'en \u00c9thiopie, il se trouvait dans une aire ouverte, m\u00eame si des arbres n'\u00e9taient pas tr\u00e8s loin, au bord d'une rivi\u00e8re d'une vingtaine de m\u00e8tres de large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On le rencontre de la Sierra Leone et Guin\u00e9e jusqu'au Y\u00e9men et au sud jusqu'au sud de l'Afrique du Sud, mais il serait absent du Gabon et du Congo.

Pseudagrion<\/strong> (1) ; du grec ancien, pseudo<\/em> \u2013faux, erron\u00e9,<\/em> et d\u2019agrion<\/em>, ceci, comme l\u2019\u00e9crit S\u00e9lys, pour t\u00e9moigner de la difficult\u00e9 \u00e0 s\u00e9parer ce genre des Agrion ; \u00ab les Pseudagrions semblent tr\u00e8s voisins des vrais Agrions \u00bb. Agrion, du grec Agrios<\/em>\u2013 sauvage<\/em>, vivant dans les champs.
Kersteni<\/strong> (2) ; l'esp\u00e8ce est nomm\u00e9e en l'honneur du chimiste et explorateur allemand Dr Otto Kersten, qui a collect\u00e9 le sp\u00e9cimen type de cette nouvelle esp\u00e8ce \u00e0 Mbaramu (nord de la Tanzanie) pendant l'exp\u00e9dition Von Decken vers le Kilimanjaro en octobre 1862.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
