Pseudagrion sjoestedti m\u00e2le, Namibie, Parc National de Bwabwata, Bum Hill, 14\/02\/2020<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir tri\u00e9 beaucoup de photos de Pseudagrion, je n’aurais finalement rencontr\u00e9 Pseudagrion sjoestedti qu’une seule fois, sur la Kwando River.
Il mesure environ 35 mm et n’est pas si difficile \u00e0 identifier (!) avec diff\u00e9rentes caract\u00e9ristiques, comme sa t\u00eate presque enti\u00e8rement rouge, y compris les taches postoculaires (la moiti\u00e9 post\u00e9rieure des yeux noire), la partie sup\u00e9rieure du thorax du m\u00eame rouge limit\u00e9 vers le bas par une forte bande noire sur la suture hum\u00e9rale. Les pt\u00e9rostigmas sont rouges, l’abdomen est tr\u00e8s sombre, noir, sauf S1 et une petite partie du S2, alors que S8 et S9 montrent une coloration limit\u00e9e et le motif est semble-t-il vraiment propre \u00e0 l’esp\u00e8ce.
Il est proche des autres Pseudagrion aux yeux rouges, mais par exemple P. acaciae<\/a> a des taches postoculaires vertes, P. massaicum montre des lignes thoraciques noires plus fine et son abdomen comme celui de P. acaciae porte des torpilles noires sur fond vert, P. sublacteum<\/a> a un thorax sombre et un abdomen moins sombre que P. sjoestedti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’esp\u00e8ce est d\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 l’entomologiste et explorateur su\u00e9dois Yngve Sj\u00f6stedt, directeur du mus\u00e9e su\u00e9dois d’histoire naturel qui a observ\u00e9 et collect\u00e9 l’esp\u00e8ce au Cameroun. Un d\u00e9tail, Phil Benstead, notre tour leader anglais qui vit en Su\u00e8de, a essay\u00e9 de m’apprendre \u00e0 prononcer ce nom d’esp\u00e8ce \u00ab\u00a0\u00e0 la su\u00e9doise\u00a0\u00bb, j’ai renonc\u00e9 rappidement \ud83d\ude42 .

On rencontre le Variable sprite (on d\u00e9crit 5 sous-esp\u00e8ces…) du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal au Kenya, et au sud, il se limite en Namibie \u00e0 la bande de Caprivi, au nord du Botswana et \u00e0 l’extr\u00eame nord-est de l’Afrique du Sud.
