Paracercion melanotum mesure environ 28 mm et il est relativement facile \u00e0 identifier… quand on conna\u00eet certains d\u00e9tails\u00a0: les taches postoculaires sont petites, en virgule ou en goutte, la bande ant\u00e9hum\u00e9rale noire est tr\u00e8s souvent (toujours ?) marqu\u00e9e par une fine ligne claire, le S10 porte un fin trait noir m\u00e9dian, les appendices anaux sont tr\u00e8s courts, invisibles sur les photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les anglo-saxons l’appellent Eastern Lilysquatter t\u00e9moignant ainsi de son attirance pour les n\u00e9nuphars, comme on le voit ci-dessus et comme on le verra plus bas, et donc pour les eaux stagnantes ou tr\u00e8s faiblement courantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je n’ai photographi\u00e9 qu’une seule femelle que je suppose \u00eatre Paracercion melanotum du fait que nous n’avons rencontr\u00e9 que ce seul Paracercion ce jour ; elle pr\u00e9sente, de plus, un motif bien particulier sous la forme de 3 fines lignes noires le long de la suture hum\u00e9rale, ce que l’on retrouve sur le sujet en accouplement ou d’autres sujets sur iNaturalist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

La photo ci-dessous montre un tandem, puis le moment o\u00f9 le m\u00e2le transf\u00e8re son sperme depuis l’endroit o\u00f9 il est produit, sous S8 et S9 vers son organe copulatoire, appareil g\u00e9nital secondaire, sous le 2\u1d49 segment abdominal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vient ensuite l’accouplement proprement dit o\u00f9 la femelle accole son pore g\u00e9nital\u00a0situ\u00e9 sous S8 au p\u00e9nis du m\u00e2le situ\u00e9 en S2.
Le dimorphisme<\/a> sexuel est vraiment \u00e9tonnant et il serait bien difficile d’identifier les femelles si on ne les voyait pas \u00e0 l’\u0153uvre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9tymologie
Selys (1876) a d\u00e9crit cette esp\u00e8ce sous le nom de Enallagma ? melanotum<\/em>.
Le genre\u00a0Paracercion<\/strong>\u00a0a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 par Weekers et Dumont (2004) pour regrouper plusieurs esp\u00e8ces de demoiselles (Zygopt\u00e8res) d\u2019Asie de l\u2019Est qui \u00e9taient auparavant class\u00e9es dans les genres\u00a0Cercion<\/em>,\u00a0Coenagrion<\/em>\u00a0ou\u00a0Enallagma<\/em>. Cette r\u00e9vision s\u2019est appuy\u00e9e \u00e0 la fois sur des donn\u00e9es mol\u00e9culaires et sur des caract\u00e8res morphologiques sp\u00e9cifiques. Le genre Cercion a disparu \u00e0 cette occasion.
Le genre Cercion, Navas (1907) vient du grec\u00a0kerkos<\/em>\u00a0pour\u00a0queue<\/em>\u00a0et du suffixe diminutif grec \u2013ion<\/em>, classique en entomologie (Agrion, Coenagrion, Pseudagrion) ; l\u2019esp\u00e8ce type du genre Cercion \u00e9tait notre Erythromma lindenii, qui montre des appendices anaux remarquablement longs\u00a0(longue queue<\/em>).
Weekers et Dumont ont ajout\u00e9 le pr\u00e9fixe\u00a0para<\/em>, qui en grec signifie\u00a0proche de<\/em>, pour signaler la proximit\u00e9 avec le genre Cercion.
Melanotum<\/strong>, du grec melas<\/em> pour noir<\/em> et du grec notum<\/em> qui signifie dos<\/em>, face dorsale<\/em>. Selys \u00e9crit en nota bene de sa description : \u00ab\u00a0Remarquable par le noir bronz\u00e9 qui domine sur l’abdomen except\u00e9 aux trois derniers segments<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
