Pseudagrion sublacteum fait partie des plus faciles \u00e0 identifier, et bien que je ne l’aie vu qu’une seule fois en Afrique du Sud, je l’ai facilement reconnu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ses yeux sont rouge cerise (Cherry-eye Sprite en anglais) pour leur moiti\u00e9 ant\u00e9rieure, tr\u00e8s sombres pour leur quart post\u00e9ro-sup\u00e9rieur et bleu-vert pour le quart post\u00e9ro-inf\u00e9rieur. Les taches postoculaires sont sombres, la face dorsale du thorax est teint\u00e9e de mauve\/pourpre, les flancs du thorax sont envahis de pruine blanch\u00e2tre pour les sujets \u00e2g\u00e9s. S2 porte une petite tache bleue centrale, S8 et S9 sont presque compl\u00e8tement bleus et les appendices anaux sup\u00e9rieurs sont visiblement plus longs que les inf\u00e9rieurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un dernier m\u00e2le immature dont l’aspect est comme souvent bien \u00e9loign\u00e9 de celui des m\u00e2les matures, et plus curieusement, comme on le verra plus bas, des femelles. J’ai eu du mal \u00e0 identifier ce jeunot et c’est Klaas-Douwe Dijkstra qui m’a tir\u00e9 d’affaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les tandems ou les accouplements sont l’occasion de d\u00e9couvrir les femelles, plus discr\u00e8tes et beaucoup plus difficiles \u00e0 identifier. Encore faut-il esp\u00e9rer que le m\u00e2le ne se soit pas tromp\u00e9, comme cela arrive de temps en temps…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le m\u00e2le mesure environ 35 mm.
C’est un r\u00e9sident de l’Afrique subsaharienne, avec deux populations relictuelles beaucoup plus au nord, au Maroc \u00e0 l’ouest et en Isra\u00ebl et Jordanie \u00e0 l’est.

\u00c9tymologie<\/strong>
Il est \u00e0 noter que Karsch a d\u00e9crit cette esp\u00e8ce sous le nom de genre de Caenagrion<\/em>. Il utilise ce terme \u00e0 plusieurs reprises, ce qui exclut une erreur de typographie. Pourtant le terme Coenagrion \u00e9tait \u00e9tabli depuis 1840 par Charpentier, m\u00eame si dans ce texte il semble faire r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 W. Kirby 1890, qui n’a fait que r\u00e9organiser le genre en 1890.
Pseudagrion<\/strong>\u00a0 du grec ancien,\u00a0pseudo<\/em>\u00a0\u2013faux, erron\u00e9,<\/em>\u00a0et d\u2019agrion<\/em>, ceci, comme l\u2019\u00e9crit Selys (1876) dans une note en bas de page, pour t\u00e9moigner de la difficult\u00e9 \u00e0 s\u00e9parer ce genre des Agrion ; \u00ab\u00a0les Pseudagrions semblent tr\u00e8s voisins des vrais Agrions\u00a0\u00bb. Agrion, du grec\u00a0Agrios<\/em>\u2013\u00a0sauvage<\/em>, vivant dans les champs.
Sublacteum<\/strong>, de sub<\/em>, pour sous<\/em>, un peu<\/em> et de lacteum<\/em>, laiteux, blanc comme du lait<\/em>. Karsch n’a pour cette description qu’une femelle et il \u00e9crit : \u00ad\u00a0\u00bbFl\u00fcgel etwas milchig getr\u00fcbt – Ailes l\u00e9g\u00e8rement troubl\u00e9es (opacifi\u00e9es) de mani\u00e8re laiteuse\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
