Il est impossible de confondre Rhyothemis semihyalina avec un autre odonate en Namibie en raison de la large tache bleue m\u00e9tallique qui couvre la moiti\u00e9 basale de son aile post\u00e9rieure et respecte en principe totalement son aile ant\u00e9rieure ; il m’a cependant rappel\u00e9 Rhyothemis triangularis<\/a> que j’avais pu observer en Malaisie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ci-dessus on note la largeur de son aile post\u00e9rieure, tout \u00e0 fait ressemblante \u00e0 celle de Pantala flavescens ; 2 insectes faits pour rester longtemps en l’air !
Il mesure 27 \u00e0 36 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 expliqu\u00e9 l’origine du nom de genre dans la page concernant Rhyothemis fenestrina<\/a>. Son nom d’esp\u00e8ce traduit la coloration de son aile post\u00e9rieure, semi- hyaline, ou semi-transparente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous n’avons pas rencontr\u00e9 la femelle, qui tr\u00e8s similaire, porte les m\u00eames taches alaires.
Le Phantom flutterer, son nom anglais, fr\u00e9quente les marges v\u00e9g\u00e9talis\u00e9es des marais, des zones inond\u00e9es ou des rivi\u00e8res.
C’est une esp\u00e8ce largement r\u00e9pandue en Afrique sub tropicale jusqu’au Mascareignes, et m\u00eame au Y\u00e9men. La population relictuelle alg\u00e9rienne aurait disparu.
