Je me suis acharn\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9montrer l’inverse de ce que l’on peut pourtant observer, il s’agit de Trithemis palustris<\/em><\/strong>, confirm\u00e9 par Klaas-Douwe Dijkstra sur iNaturalist. Il faut donc modifier la page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le souci \u00e0 propos de cette identification est que m\u00eame si ce sujet correspond parfaitement \u00e0 Trithemis stictica il n’est pas montr\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent dans cette r\u00e9gion de Namibie sur les 2 cartes de r\u00e9partition \u00e0 ma disposition.
Il s’agit des donn\u00e9es de r\u00e9partition que l’on trouve dans cet excellent livre que j’ai cit\u00e9 de tr\u00e8s nombreuses fois \u00ab\u00a0Dragonflies and Damselflies of Namibia\u00a0\u00bb, Frank Suhling et Andrea Martens, 2007, et dans ce document \u00ab\u00a0Trithemis morrisoni sp. nov. and T. palustris sp. nov. from the Okavango and Upper Zambezi Floodplains previously hidden under T. stictica (Odonata: Libellulidae)\u00a0\u00bb, Sandra Damm et Heike Hadrys, juin 2008 publi\u00e9 en f\u00e9vrier 2009 (1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans ce dernier document qui r\u00e9v\u00e8le ces 2 nouvelles esp\u00e8ces cach\u00e9es sous Trithemis stictica, T. palustris et T. morrisoni, on lit qu’elles sont morphologiquement tr\u00e8s proches. Nous avons donc 3 esp\u00e8ces extr\u00eamement ressemblantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cependant le caract\u00e8re le plus \u00e9vident qui permet de s\u00e9parer T. stictica des 2 autres nouvelles esp\u00e8ces (1) est la coloration des yeux ; ceux de T. palustris et morrisoni sont bicolores, marron en haut et gris bleu en dessous alors que ceux de T. stictica ne montrent qu’une seule couleur. La coloration marron de la partie sup\u00e9rieure peut devenir bleue pour les m\u00e2les matures T. palustris mais on y rel\u00e8ve toujours une nuance de marron, ce qui n’est absolument pas le cas ici.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans cette m\u00eame partie du document sus cit\u00e9, il est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 que les 2 nouvelles esp\u00e8ces ont la base des ailes ambr\u00e9es, mais pas T. stictica, et on note cette absence ici.
\u00c0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la description de ces 2 nouvelles esp\u00e8ces, Trithemis stictica, Jaunty dropwing en anglais, est d\u00e9crit \u00e0 nouveau ; alors que pour les 2 nouvelles esp\u00e8ces la nervation est dite noir\u00e2tre, celle de T. stictica est qualifi\u00e9e de marron fonc\u00e9<\/em>, ce qu’on observe ci-dessus et encore mieux ci-dessous :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alors bien que Klaas-Douwe Dijkstra, grand sp\u00e9cialiste des odonates africains,\u00a0 me r\u00e9ponde par une boutade pour une demande d’aide sur la premi\u00e8re photo (God only knows…) il est certain que ce n’est pas une des 2 nouvelles esp\u00e8ces. Trithemis stictica est le seul candidat restant, et malgr\u00e9 toutes mes recherches aucun autre Trithemis actuellement connu ne correspond \u00e0 mes photos.
Et si T. stictica ne figure pas sur les cartes de r\u00e9partition en Namibie il est tr\u00e8s clairement cit\u00e9 comme pr\u00e9sent dans la bande de Caprivi\u00a0 m\u00eame s’il n’a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 trouv\u00e9 dans les \u00e9chantillons destin\u00e9s \u00e0 l’\u00e9tude g\u00e9n\u00e9tique qui a mis en \u00e9vidence les 2 nouvelles esp\u00e8ces : \u00ab\u00a0While other Trithemis species occur throughout Namibia, T. stictica was exclusively found at isolated springs in the Naukluft Mountains and in the region of the Caprivi Strip<\/span> with its surrounding river systems in Botswana and Zambia (Kipping in press; Suhling & Martens 2007).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il se perchait ici au bord d’une zone mar\u00e9cageuse de la rivi\u00e8re Kwando, en limite de for\u00eat. C’est le seul sujet que nous ayons rencontr\u00e9.
C’est une esp\u00e8ce subsaharienne font la r\u00e9partition s’\u00e9tend du Sierra Leone \u00e0 la Somalie et au Sud jusqu’\u00e0 l’Afrique du Sud. Mais de nombreuses donn\u00e9es sont maintenant suspicieuses en raison de la d\u00e9couverte des 2 nouvelles esp\u00e8ces.

Son nom d’esp\u00e8ce stictica<\/em> vient du grec stiktos<\/em> pour marqu\u00e9, tatou\u00e9<\/em> par r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux taches jaunes sur le thorax du premier sujet d\u00e9crit qui \u00e9tait jeune et dont la pruinosit\u00e9 ne couvrait pas tout le thorax.
Son nom de genre reprend comme tr\u00e8s souvent pour les Libellulidae le nom de la d\u00e9esse Themis<\/em>, d\u00e9esse de l’ordre ce qui allait tr\u00e8s bien aux pionniers de la syst\u00e9matique, avides de classements. Le pr\u00e9fixe Tri<\/em> se rapporte sans doute au pronotum trilob\u00e9 des sujets de ce genre.

Il faut enfin noter sur ou plut\u00f4t sous l’aile post\u00e9rieure gauche de ce sujet la pr\u00e9sence d’un parasite, un dipt\u00e8re, vraisemblablement du genre Forcipomyia (Ceratopogonidae). Ces parasites, que j’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 rencontr\u00e9s \u00e0 plusieurs reprises en en Malaisie<\/a> ou au Br\u00e9sil<\/a>, mais jamais en France, se nourrissent en su\u00e7ant l’h\u00e9molymphe de leurs h\u00f4tes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
