Phyllomacromia picta est appel\u00e9 Darting cruiser en Namibie.
Et il est illustr\u00e9 par une des plus mauvaises photos de mon site ! Je ne pensais franchement pas la pr\u00e9senter car sur le terrain nous avions pens\u00e9 qu’il s’agissait de Zygonyx torridus. Et c’est en triant les derni\u00e8res photos que je me suis rendu compte de notre erreur.
Nous avons observ\u00e9 ce sujet un petit moment faisant des allers-retours au-dessus d’une petite zone de rapides sur le Zamb\u00e8ze.
Les yeux sont verts et le thorax pr\u00e9sente trop de jaune pour un Zygonyx.
L’identification en Phyllomacromia picta n’est pas difficile dans la mesure o\u00f9 le seul autre qui lui ressemble est P. overlaeti qui pr\u00e9sente une tr\u00e8s large expansion foliac\u00e9e sur le S8, et la photo permet de constater qu’elle n’est pas pr\u00e9sente ici.
Il mesure 55 \u00e0 58 mm, plus petit aussi que P. overlaeti, et nous l’avons observ\u00e9 dans son comportement typique de va-et-vient au-dessus d’une rivi\u00e8re.

L’\u00e9tymologie du nom de genre et d’esp\u00e8ce est donn\u00e9 par Suhling et Martens dans Dragonflies and Damselflies of Namibia :
– macromia<\/em> vient du grec makros<\/em> pour grand, long<\/em>, omos<\/em> pour \u00e9paule et de ios<\/em> pour \u00e9quip\u00e9 de<\/em>, en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au robuste thorax du genre
–phyllo<\/em>, du grec phyllon<\/em>, pour feuille<\/em>, souligne la pr\u00e9sence sur le 8\u00b0 segment d’appendices foliac\u00e9s
–picta<\/em>, son nom d’esp\u00e8ce, vient du latin pictus<\/em> pour peint, color\u00e9 sans doute en rapport avec ses marques abdominales noires et jaunes.

C’est essentiellement une esp\u00e8ce de l’est et du sud de l’Afrique, de l’\u00c9thiopie \u00e0 l’Afrique du Sud et qui s’aventure jusqu’\u00e0 l’ouest de l’Afrique en suivant les grands fleuves \u00e0 partir de la bande de Caprivi.
