Orthetrum albistylum femelle, Ancenis (France – 49), 20\/07\/2020 <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Les rencontres avec Orthetrum albistylum ne sont pas courantes dans ma r\u00e9gion et m\u00eame si nous sommes ici en Loire-Atlantique, l’\u00eele Bernardeau sur la Loire, o\u00f9 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 faites ces photos, n’est qu’\u00e0 25 km de ma commune, \u00e0 vol de libellule, bien s\u00fbr.
De plus cette femelle est manifestement jeune, un cas que je n’avais pas encore photographi\u00e9.
Ce que je n’ai pas remarqu\u00e9 tout de suite c’est qu’elle \u00e9tait \u00e0 table se r\u00e9galant d’un papillon bien dodu. C’est une nourriture ordinaire pour les odonates et facile distinguer par les observateurs pour sa grande taille parmi les proies parfois minuscules qui constituent le menu des libellules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orthetrum albistylum femelle, pr\u00e9dation sur Pyropteron chrysidiformis, Ancenis (France – 49), 20\/07\/2020<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

La victime est tr\u00e8s caract\u00e9ristique des S\u00e9sies et il s’agit de Pyropteron chrysidiformis (Sesiidae) identifiable par les 2 anneaux jaunes qui ceinturent l’abdomen et la touffe de soies rousses \u00e0 son extr\u00e9mit\u00e9. Il mesure 15 \u00e0 23 mm d’envergure, une proie \u00ab\u00a0facile\u00a0\u00bb pour un odonate de la taille de l’Orthetrum \u00e0 stylets blancs (45 \u00e0 55 mm de longueur totale). La S\u00e9sie de l’oseille a la r\u00e9putation d’\u00eatre difficile \u00e0 observer et je ne l’avais jamais rencontr\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On voit tr\u00e8s bien l’anneau jaune terminal de la S\u00e9sie sur cette photo, 6 secondes apr\u00e8s celle au-dessus, o\u00f9 l’Orthetrum a fait pivoter sa proie avec ses mandibules pour continuer son repas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
