Cela faisait des ann\u00e9es que je cherchais \u00e0 rencontrer des Stylurus flavipes matures. Jusque-l\u00e0, mes prospections sur les bords de la Loire ne m'avaient permis que de trouver de nombreuses exuvies, des sujets en fin d'\u00e9mergence. Le seul individu volant \u00e9tait une femelle tout juste \u00e9merg\u00e9e.
C'est encore dans les Landes que mon ami Olivier m'a emmen\u00e9 sur ses terrains de chasse, en particulier le long du Luy, un affluent de l'Adour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On l'identifie assez facilement lorsque l'on peut voir son thorax qui montre g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement un ovale jaune cern\u00e9 de fortes lignes noires ; ces lignes noires d\u00e9limitent aussi un \"T\" jaune form\u00e9 par la car\u00e8ne thoracique dorsale et un collier jaune \u00e0 la partie toute ant\u00e9rieure du thorax.
Les pattes sont jaunes et noires, les f\u00e9murs domin\u00e9s de jaune, ce qui lui vaut son nom scientifique de flavipes<\/em> et son nom vernaculaire : le Gomphe \u00e0 pattes jaunes<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son abdomen fin est enti\u00e8rement parcouru d'une ligne jaune et, contrairement \u00e0 ce qu'on lit parfois, il est nettement dilat\u00e9 de S8 \u00e0 S9, moins que pour G. vulgatissimus (dont la face dorsale de S8-S9 est noire), mais plus que pour les autres Gomphus fran\u00e7ais.
Les cerco\u00efdes le s\u00e9parent \u00e9galement des Gomphus ; ils sont pointus, divergents, mais surtout concaves en dedans.

Ces trois derni\u00e8res photos ci-dessus d'un jeune sujet aux yeux p\u00e2les et aux pt\u00e9rostigmas blanch\u00e2tres montrent que le fameux ovale jaune n'est pas toujours parfait.

C'est toujours au long du Luy, mais cette fois-ci dans le bourg de Sort-en-Chalosse, entre le jeu de p\u00e9tanque, la route et la rivi\u00e8re, que j'ai trouv\u00e9 le magnifique sujet ci-dessous : son ovale jaune est bien dessin\u00e9 !
On devine la face lat\u00e9rale de son thorax, essentiellement jaune, la suture interpleurale<\/a> n'est soulign\u00e9 que dans sa partie toute inf\u00e9rieure, et la ligne noire la plus post\u00e9rieure n'est pas fourchue \u00e0 l'approche du stigmate m\u00e9tathoracique<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vingt minutes plus tard, sur le m\u00eame lieu, j'ai pu assister au repas du soir (il est 19 heures) d'un dernier sujet. Les grosses b\u00eates mangeant les petites, c'est un Platycnemis latipes m\u00e2le qui est la victime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si on est prudent, ils ne sont pas particuli\u00e8rement difficiles \u00e0 approcher et tout occup\u00e9 \u00e0 terminer son repas, il m'a laiss\u00e9 approcher tr\u00e8s pr\u00e8s et constater la pilosit\u00e9 de sa face : <\/p>\n\n\n\n
