Nous avons souvent rencontr\u00e9 Euphaea masoni durant les 13 jours de prospection, post\u00e9e sur les rochers ou les rameaux au bord de rivi\u00e8res aux berges envahies d’arbres ou d’arbustes comme ici \u00e0 Cao Bang sur les berges de cette rivi\u00e8re :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 rencontr\u00e9 Euphaea masoni au Laos et en revoyant les photos que j’y avais faites, j’ai \u00e9t\u00e9 un peu \u00e9tonn\u00e9 de voir comme l’apex des ailes post\u00e9rieures semble color\u00e9 ce qui n’est pas le cas au Laos. Sur les photos ci-dessus et ci-dessous, on voit bien cette zone m\u00e9tallis\u00e9e bleue, \u00e0 reflets iris\u00e9s sur la partie m\u00e9diane de l’aile post\u00e9rieure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais cette magnifique iridescence n’est pas toujours \u00e9vidente \u00e0 apercevoir en fonction de l’incidence de la lumi\u00e8re comme le montre cette autre photo :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour la femelle, j’ai la certitude qu’il s’agit de la m\u00eame esp\u00e8ce puisque je les ai surpris ensembles dans les arbustes de la berge, trop \u00e0 l’ombre malheureusement pour faire des photos correctes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il mesure environ 40 mm et il est largement distribu\u00e9 depuis le nord-est de l’Inde jusqu’au sud de la Chine (Yunnan et Guangxi), en passant par le Laos et le Vietnam.
