[Lors de notre s\u00e9jour au Vietnam, cette esp\u00e8ce \u00e9tait du genre f\u00e9minin et \u00e9tait donc appel\u00e9e carinata. Je ne connais pas la raison de ce changement.]

Parmi les 27 esp\u00e8ces d’Idionyx (Corduliidae) il y en aurait 5\u00a0 au Vietnam, mais nous n’en avons rencontr\u00e9 que 2, I. thailandica (une femelle) et Idionyx carinatus m\u00e2le et femelle. Comme tous les Corduliidae ce sont des patrouilleurs et il faut les capturer pour les identifier ou m\u00eame les admirer.
Ils sont \u00e9pineux \ud83d\ude42 ; comme on le voit ci-dessus, le m\u00e2le arbore une forte \u00e9pine sur son 10\u00b0 segment. La femelle a plac\u00e9 cette \u00e9pine sur son vertex, une \u00e9pine simple comme ici, mais elle peut \u00eatre bifide.
Si on se base sur la description de l’esp\u00e8ce de Forster 1926, l’abdomen mesurant 35 mm, l’insecte doit mesurer environ 48 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toutes les femelles du genre portent sur le sommet du front un appendice de forme variable, parfois arrondi, parfois aplati, parfois \u00e9rig\u00e9 en corne bifide ou simple comme ici.
Elles ont aussi la base des ailes ambr\u00e9e, ce qui est peu visible ici, la coloration de la zone en question \u00e9tant masqu\u00e9e par les doigts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’est une esp\u00e8ce qui affectionne les for\u00eats des zones de montagne, on la rencontre dans le grand sud de la Chine et le Vietnam.
