Nous n'avons aper\u00e7u Indothemis carnatica m\u00e2le qu'une seule fois, sur une mare du Parc de Cuc Phuong, le matin du 15 juin 2018. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 mitraill\u00e9 en vol par le groupe et s'est tr\u00e8s bri\u00e8vement pos\u00e9 2 ou 3 fois sur la berge sans que j'ai le temps de m'en approcher. J'ai donc d\u00fb me contenter de ces photos en vol.
C'\u00e9tait ma premi\u00e8re rencontre avec l'esp\u00e8ce. Je la rencontrerai plus tard, pos\u00e9e, puis en vol avec une femelle en Tha\u00eflande<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il ressemble \u00e0 Trithemis festiva (la prise de vue \u00e0 contre-jour a peut-\u00eatre \u00e9clairci un peu ma photo, car il m'a sembl\u00e9 plus sombre en vol), qui lui n'a pas les appendices anaux clairs et surtout ne fr\u00e9quente pas les mares, se r\u00e9servant pour les berges des rivi\u00e8res o\u00f9 il se pose souvent et en particulier sur les rochers. 
Indothemis carnatica mesure un peu moins de 40 mm, et l'IUCN le consid\u00e8re comme une esp\u00e8ce rare et localis\u00e9e. Et en effet si son aire de distribution s'\u00e9tend du Sri Lanka et de l'Inde jusqu'au Vietnam le maillage des signalements est tr\u00e8s lacunaire (absent du Laos, Cambodge jusqu'\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent). IUCN Red List<\/a>.
Il lui arrive de c\u00f4toyer son cousin Indothemis limbata que j'avais rencontr\u00e9 en Malaisie, mais dans ces situations, il est toujours domin\u00e9 en nombre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
