Cette tr\u00e8s jeune femelle vient de faire son vol inaugural, depuis ma petite mare jusqu’\u00e0 ces Orangers du Mexique qui en sont \u00e9loign\u00e9s \u00e0 peine de 2 m\u00e8tres. C’est un support fr\u00e9quemment adopt\u00e9, car il est \u00e0 l’abri du vent et en plein soleil \u00e0 cette heure (13 heures 30).
Les ailes brillantes montrent une coloration diffuse sous les nodus et pt\u00e9rostigmas, qui caract\u00e9rise les sujets du type praenubila<\/em>. On retrouve la m\u00eame singularit\u00e9 sur la femelle ci-dessous : <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malheureusement tout ne se passe pas toujours aussi bien et si la femelle ci-dessus va d\u00e9coller sans probl\u00e8me malgr\u00e9 une petite imperfection des ailes gauches, la derni\u00e8re n’aura pas cette chance…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il faut encore remarquer ici le cloisonnement des sacs a\u00e9riens<\/a>, \u00e0 la fois sur le thorax et l’abdomen… Je ne connais pas d’autre esp\u00e8ce ou il est si visible \u00e0 cet \u00e2ge.
Ces sacs a\u00e9riens semblent occuper une bonne partie de la face dorsale de l’abdomen et leur r\u00f4le m\u00e9riterait certainement des investigations suppl\u00e9mentaires…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Car il ne s’agit pas de sacs a\u00e9riens trach\u00e9aux et je n’ai jamais lu qu’ils sont en communication avec le syst\u00e8me respiratoire des odonates… Sont-ils l\u00e0 simplement pour raidir<\/em> la structure sans ajouter de poids ?
Certains leur ont attribu\u00e9s un r\u00f4le de sustentation<\/em> ; expos\u00e9s au soleil, ils all\u00e9geraient l’odonate, \u00e0 la fa\u00e7on d’un ballon \u00e0 air chaud. Il faudrait alors que la diff\u00e9rence de temp\u00e9rature entre l’air ambiant et l’air contenu dans ces cellules soit importante, ce qui semble incompatible avec la survie m\u00eame de l’insecte…<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
